The Journey

The long winding drive past the stone gate house and up through the ancient oaks, brings you to the “old Manor House.” The 22,000 square foot estate was designed by Myron Hunt and built in 1925 for Mrs. Lora Knight from St. Louis and main patron of Lindburg’s flight over the Atlantic. Lindburg landed “Spirit of St. Louis” on the estate’s front meadow on many occasions. Cima del Mundo was later owned by The Jesuit of Novitiate for 40 years, leaving the home virtually unchanged. Though no room was left untouched in its remodel, the home and each space have an air of history, a feeling of warmth and understated elegance without pretense.
